Mr Carrisford suddenly sat up. "You born in India?" He asked, "but you are a servant in the next school."
"Yeah, I am now," Sara said, "but at first I'm not."
The Indian gentleman looked at Mr Carl Micheal, and Mr Carl Micheal looked at Sara again.
"What does 'at first' means, girl?" He asked.
"It's when my father just sent me to the school."
"Where is your father?" Mr Carl Micheal asked. "He passed away," Sara said quietly, "his friend ran away with all his money. And I have no money, and no one takes care of me, so Miss Minchin took me into the attric, and she said I have to work for myself."

“别否认了，伙计。你在同时讨好她们两个人。”他靠近点在我耳边说，“篮子男孩，我好害怕呀。”
“给我闭嘴。”
“真的！有人说她们在今天体育课上打架了。”这事我知道。“珍宝·珍妮怎么样？”
他耸耸肩。“没听说过。但我们明天就能知道了，是吧，伙计？”
星期五妈妈开车把我和那又蠢又大的篮子送到学校，那时所有篮子男孩都换好衣服了，我快窒息了，完全是在穿休闲裤和礼服鞋的感觉。
小孩们吹着口哨喊着，“哦，宝贝！”当我沿着走道向前走时，我遇到了珍宝·珍妮，一次迈出了3步。
“哇哦，布莱斯，”她很大声地说。“你看起来……很好吃。”
哦，见鬼！我马上跑到篮子男孩准备见面的教室里，当我走进去时，我感觉好多了。
