“Now, form a line,” Professor McGonagall told the first years, “and follow me.”
Feeling oddly as though his legs had turned to lead, Harry got into line behind a boy with sandy hair, with Ron behind him, and they walked out of the chamber, back across the hall, and through a pair of double doors into the Great Hall.
Harry had never even imagined such a strange and splendid place. It was lit by thousands and thousands of candles that were floating in midair over four long tables, where the rest of the students were sitting. These tables were laid with glittering golden plates and goblets. At the top of the hall was another long table
where the teachers were sitting. Professor McGonagall led the first years up here, so that they came to a halt in a line facing the other students, with the teachers behind them. The hundreds of faces staring at them looked like pale lanterns in the flickering candlelight.
Dotted here and there among the students, the ghosts shone misty silver.

哈利想要避开别人的目光，抬头往上看，看见了一个绒毛一样的黑色点缀满星星的天花板。
他听到赫敏在小声说话，“这是被施了魔法看起来像是外面的天空。我在霍格沃兹历史中读到过这种。”
“很难相信上面是有天花板的，就好像大厅堂是直接向天空打开的一样。”
当麦格教授安静地将一只四条腿的凳子放在了一年级学生的前面，哈利马上低下了头。
麦格教授在凳子上放了一顶尖尖的巫师帽。这个帽子打了补丁，磨损的厉害而且非常脏。
佩妮姨妈绝对不会让它出现在房间里的。
也许他们要尝试从帽子里变出一个兔子来，哈利慌乱地想着，好像就是怎么回事
注意到大厅中的每一个人现在都在看着帽子，他也盯着看。
过了几秒钟，现场一片寂静。突然间这个帽子抽动了一下。帽子边缘附近的一个破口张得更大了，就像一只嘴巴。
